WARNING: No, this isn't a citrus warning, but this is a SAPPINESS warning. YES, Vejiita will be OUT of character (but isn't he always in these kind of stories?).

Chapter 8: Reflections

Aya craddled Trunks' head as he coughed up alarming amounts of blood. "Kami," she muttered, "I hope I can get you back to the others."

Trunks managed a weak smile, "I'll be fine. I have something that'll help."

Aya released him and looked at him "What?" she demanded.

Trunks shook his head, eyeing the few remaing soldiers as they escorted that last of the prisoners out of city. He turned back to Aya, noting her gaze was locked upon the body of her dead father; tears spilled from her eyes. Trunks raised a bloody finger and wiped her tears away, smearing a little bit of blood, "It'll be okay." he promised, though he wasn't really sure anymore.

Vejiita moved around the room silently, trying not to disturb the peaceful sleeper. There was so much to be done before she woke up. He strode to the door throwing a glance back at Bulma to make sure she was still sleeping; he smirked as she snuggled against a pillow. He continued out, the door quietly sliding shut after him.

He continued down the hallway, barking out orders to prepare for take-off. "We leave in two hours!" he told everyone.

After he had finished in the palace, he went to the ship to make sure all adjustments were made for the journey. "How are you coming?" he questioned one of the engineers, "We leave in two hours!"

The young man trembled, "The adjustments are coming along nicely, we'll be ready to leave at your command."

Vejiita nodded in approval. Satisfied with everything, he turned back to the palace; she would more than likely be awake and wondering where he was.

He hurried back to the room, he strode in and got a welcome he didn't expect. He had no time to react as the glass vase smashed into his forehead. His smirk faded into shock as he gazed into two angry, blue eyes. She was furious, her cheeks were flushed and her fists were balled. "Bastard." she said quietly, the calmness of her voice sending chills up Vejiita's spine, "You cold-hearted son of a bitch." He brought his hand up and absently rubbed the spot were the vase had hit him. "If you think I'm leaving this planet without MY son, you've got another thing coming."

Vejiita sighed, "Is THAT your problem?" he asked, obviously annoyed, "Stupid bitch," he muttered, "you're mine! You don't exactly have a choice." This seemed to anger Bulma more, but he continued, "That little brat is no longer your concern. It seems; however, that you need some help remembering that. Perhaps if I just elimanate the brat from existance, you'll remember your place!" Satisfied, Vejiita stopped, thinking that would shut her up, or at least scare her.

She didn't even flinch, she took a step forward, "I am NOT yours." she said, "I never will be. To think, I actually LOVED you! I LOVED you, Vejiita!" her voice was beginning to crack, tears were forming, "I devoted myself to you; I actually believed you cared; but a monster like you can't care. It's obvious you can't, you'd even kill your own son." Vejiita gazed at her, shock once again evident in his features, "So tell me this, Vejiita. Why, after all you've said, and all you've done, why do I still love you?"

Vejiita was speechless; Bulma had broken down into tears on the floor. He reached out for her, but stopped himself, he strode past her and flew out the balcony; he had to do some thinking.

Trunks groped around his pockets, "It's in here somewhere." he muttered, annoyed.

Aya didn't pay attention, she covered her fathers body with a blanket she had found. "I love you daddy." she whispered.

Trunks nearly shouted for joy when he found what he was looking for. "This," he said, holding up a tiny bean, "is it."

Aya broke free from her sorrow, and stared at the bean skeptically, "And what exactly IS that?"

Trunks smiled, "It's a senzu bean! My mom managed to get a few and gave them to me. This is my last."

Aya rolled her eyes, "That's nice, but what does it DO?"

Trunks blushed, "It heals your wounds, and makes you stronger." Aya nodded in understanding as Trunks chewed on the bean, "Tastes nasty as hell though." Aya chuckled lightly, making Trunks smile, "We'd better find the others before Vejiita changes his mind."

Vejiita sat alone, meditating. He had come here often, both before and after he made his wish. He remembered the first time he came here; it was when he first realized he was attracted to Bulma. 'Am I in love with her?' he asked himself, 'Why can't I describe the feelings I have for her? So many damn questions! I have to get off of this cursed planet!'

He was so engrossed in thought, he almost didn't sense the approaching ki signature. "So, Kakarott, you want to play again?' he asked as the other saiyajin landed.

Goku simply shook his head. "Something's bothering you, I can sense it."

Vejiita glared, "Since when did you become a Psychiatrist?"

Goku ignored the comment, "Where's Bulma?" he demanded.

"Safe; she's getting ready to leave Chikyuu."

Goku frowned, "And Mirai Trunks?"

"Alive I think, he was when I left him."

Goku nodded, "You're leaving with Bulma." he repeated to himself, "What about Chibbi Trunks?"

Vejiita scowled, "I don't know!" Vejiita nearly screamed in frustration, "I honestly don't know! She wants to take him, and I really don't give a shit about the brat!"

Goku nodded, understandingly, "Maybe you should see him. It might help you decide." Vejiita stared at Goku, "You love her don't you?"

Vejiita studied the other saiyjin. He was seriously considering telling him the truth. Only his pride kept him silent. After a moment of reflection, Vejiita decided to tell him, 'It's not like I can't kill him.' "She said she loved me." he said quietly, "No one has ever told me that they loved me, or cared about me; I didn't think anyone could, and I didn't think I could feel the same way about anyone else; but I do."

Goku gave Vejiita a goofy grin, "So you love her?"

Vejiita turned away, "Yes, I do."
