Hi again, just a quick note, I meant to add this in the prologue: Kasumi is translated into mist and Hikari into light. Enjoy, and let me know what you think!

Chapter 1: Love and Hate

The two stared at each other with anger, both waiting for the other to give in. They did this every night for four months, and every night would end the same. "I give up!" she muttured, clearly defeated, "I'm sick of this."

Vejiita smirked in truimph, "You're the one who brings it up every night woman." he scolded, "If your sick of it, forget about him!"

Bulma turned away, she was growing tired of his ego, "Oh, just forget about my son." she mimicked his arrogant tone, "Just forget about the boy I gave birth to and raised!" she was clearly distraught, "How the hell can I forget him, I love him!"

Vejiita's smirk faded and his usual scowl returned, "Stupid woman, how many times have I told you emotions make you weak."

"Too many times, Vejiita." she sighed, "I suppose that's why your so strong, right? You show no emotion and that supposedly makes you a better warrior."

Vejiita nodded, "Damn right. Your weak because of your emotions."

"If you're so strong, then why the hell did you have to wish for immortality to rule the universe? Couldn't you conquer it by yourself?"

That set Vejiita off, in an instant he was in front of her and holding her by the neck, "Watch your mouth wench!" he hissed through clenched teeth, "I can kill you in an instant, and I won't hesitate to do so if I see fit!"

He released Bulma, sure he had gotten the message through. She absently brought her hand to her neck and rubbed the sore skin. "Then why don't you kill me?" she spat, "I don't care what you do to me. You've ruined my life." she was growing hystarical, "I gave you everything I had, and you've never once told me you cared or that you loved me! But, of course that would be a lie and I would rather you were honest with me."

Vejiita was confused, he took a step towards her and she backed away. "Don't touch me bastard!" she exclaimed shrilly, "I love you Vejiita, but you're just obsessed with me!"

Vejiita watched her as she began to tremble and struggle for breath. In a flash, he had her in his embrace, "Shut up woman." he whispered softly, "You don't know what your talking about. Now relax before you make yourself sick!"

Bulma struggled for a moment, then allowed herself to collapse in his arms. "All I want is to see my son; I'm so scared for him."

"Baka, if he's any sort of warrior, then he can fend for himself. The brat's capable of caring for himself, I did it."

These words held no comfort for Bulma, but there was no point in contiuing to argue with Vejiita.

The demoness watched the two, a look of truimph on her face. "This is going to be easier than I thought." She tossed her black hair over her shoulders and laughed as she dissapered.

Trunks had never felt so alone in his entire life. He stared at the time machine, pondering where he should go. "Should I go to the future?" he questioned aloud, not expecting a response.

"No." came a quiet answer. Trunks spun around his eyes darting, looking for the source of the voice. "You can't change things through time travel, you'll always get the same result."

"Who said that?" Trunks demanded, "Where did you come from?"

Suddenly, he was blinded by a bright light. As the light faded a beautiful woman appeared. Trunks studied her, in awe of such beauty. She was dressed in white, she had long, pale pink hair that fell to her knees and soft, lavender eyes that anyone could drown in. "Who are you?" he asked again, his voice just above a whisper.

The woman smiled warmly, "My name is Hikari, and I am an angel."

Trunks swallowed the lump in his throat, "An angel?" he whispered, "I always pictured angels in flowing white gowns with wings and a halo."

Hikari chuckled, "A common misconception. An angel is nothing more than an immortal, created from pure goodness. We're not born, we have no parents, we just exist."

Trunks scratched his head, "I'm crazy." he uttered, "I've finally gone over the deep end."

Hikari reached out and rested her hand on his shoulder, Trunks thought he was going to faint "I'm as real as you are." she promised, "I've come to help you save your mother and father."

Trunks pulled away from her grip, "How?" he asked, desperately, "What do I do?"

"Sit down," Hikari motioned to the fire, "This is a long and complicated matter." Trunks obeyed. "First, I must tell you, I am breaking many of the laws that have been laid down for us angels. The fact that I have even shown myself to you demands that I be stripped of my title."

"I'm sorry." Trunks whispered.

"Don't be." Hikari replied, "Sometimes, laws must be broken."

"You said you could help me?"

"I can, but I must warn you of all the dangers that lie ahead." she studied him for a moment, he was eager to hear what she had to say, "Your father is a powerful warrior with a dark soul. Your mother is a warrior in her own sense, but her soul is pure. Your father doesn't realize the grave consequences of his wish, and we must save him from that."

Trunks fidgeted nervously, "I know that," he sounded annoyed, "but how?"

Hikari rolled her eyes, "Just a minute," she commanded, "There is more you need to know. As there are Angels, there are also demons. These demons were created out of hate and evil, by a being who rules over the underworld. This being has sent a demoness named Kasumi to find the darkest soul in the universe. He wishes to enter the mortal world, and to do so he needs to inhabit a mortal with a dark soul."

"And what does this have to do with me?" Trunks quiered.

"Not as much as it has to do with your father." Hikari responded, "You see, at this moment, Vejiita has the darkest soul, almost perfect for the taking. Only one problem exsits, Vejiita's one weakness, your mother. As long as Vejiita harbors feeling for your mother, his soul is not black enough."

"So, what does that mean?"

"It means, that to be able to inhabbit his body, his soul must be made a perfect black. To do that, his one weakness must be detroyed, Kasumi has been sent to complete this. We must stop her and purify your fathers soul."

Trunks clenched his fists, anger creeped into his blood, "How is she going to do this?"

Hikari shook her head, "I'm not sure how she plans to do it, but you can be sure her methods will be cruel."

Trunks rose, "I will go, tell me what I need to do to save them!"

Hikari nodded, "Much must be done to prepare you for this battle." she said gravely, "You will not only be fighting a demon, but you will be fighting all of hell as well.
